05/14/17/Pine Cay/9am

Today was an amazing day! It was our sailing day and it was the perfect day for it. We met at the marina where captain Matt sailed us to the island of Pine Cay. The water was so blue and calm, perfect conditions for sailing. Before we reached the island, we stopped to snorkel on the way. We seen a lot of species we saw before, with an exception of some new ones. We saw a Caribbean lobster and a peacock flounder. Also while snorkeling I seen a HUGE fish. It had characteristics like a parrot fish, but it was different colors of metallic turquoise and violet. After talking with the our professors, our guess is that it was a midnight parrot fish.

When we arrived at the island the sand bar took us pretty far out, where we were able to collect sand dollars and other shells. Unfortunately I didn’t find any, but Will and Haley did! I found a lot of sunrise tellens which are very popular in this area. I also found some bleached coral under the water berried in the sand. It was cool to actually hold the coral and look at it closer then we would diving.  Getting back on the boat heading back home, we passed all these beautiful houses in the canal. It would be a dream to have one of them.

After sailing we went to Danny boys for dinner. I noticed there is not a lot of bugs, but there sure are misquotes! Taking with Dr.Strong, there was a study done that misquotes are attracted to certain biochemical make up of different people. They sure like me! Today was a very eventful day and tomorrow I have my last dive. I am very excited because it is a free dive without any skills. I know the skills are important but it will be nice to just focus on the marine life.
